Nana's Special Sauce - Gluten Free Tomato Pasta Sauce

My boyfriend's Mom makes an AMAZING meat/tomato pasta sauce.  It's so good, her grandson's ask for it by name - Nana's Special Sauce!  Even when the boys were going through their pickiest of eating stages, they all wanted Nana's Special Sauce.

We made it this weekend for the first time - and by following Nana's instructions below - it was a no-fail!  It's delicious, savory and just a little bit spicy!  We will be enjoying it tonight on brown rice noodles!

Nana's Special Sauce
Ground Beef, Onion and Green Pepper
1 pound medium ground beef
1 green pepper, seeded and diced small
1 onion diced small
1 can of Catellii Spaghetti sauce (small, with meat)
1 can of tomatoes - herb and spices - 14oz. - put through blender
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/4 tsp oregano
1/4 tsp dry basil
1/2 tsp red pepper
1/8 tsp chili powder
1 tbsp parsley flakes
2 bay leaves
1 tbsp garlic salt

Spices
In a large saucepan, cook the beef until no longer pink, drain the fat.  Add green pepper and onion and saute until onion is clear.  Add blended tomatoes and canned spaghetti sauce. Stir until well blended.

Add all the spices and stir until well blended.

Simmer for 1-1/2 hours

Use with gluten free brown rice spaghetti noodles.

You can also freeze any portions you prefer for future use.
Recipe can be easily doubled.

Enjoy!
